The schools in the north of the Township are still largely one room schools. Brougham has built a new 4-room school, and Brock Road also has a new school. The older pupils from the north are taken by bus to the two High Schools, and there seems to be little difference in their academic achievements and those of the urban children. Pickering Village enjoys an excellent new Public School on Lincoln Ave. Paradise Public School serves the south eastern section of the Township. Picture #3 (bottom): Paradise School, Area No. 1. In 1953, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School was built in Pickering Village and shortly afterwards Catholic schools in Ajax & in Rosebank were established to serve their areas.
