discuss either provincial or federal questions in this column It is our belief that readers prefer discussion of local matters their weekly and in that belief we have maintained this column chiefly as a medium of on Aurora affairs National health insurance may well however become a subject of discussion in Aurora as in all Canadian communities It is suggested that it may take ft paramount place in policies advocated by the present government at such time as it is dissolved and seeks a hew tenure of office It was projected by the Liberal government under the premiership of the late King but the outbreak of war put it in abeyance National health insurance is a subject of the mast imperative interest to large of Canadian workers Hospitalisation costs are a constant dread in their Jives We have learned of instances where family savings frugal living and many selfdenials a v been swallowed up through a few weeks in hospital and of other cases where heavy debts have been incurred to meet costs Canada leads the world in so many major matters that such things ought not to be Canadian citizens ought to feel free from worries of not know- what steps to take when sickness deprives them of their of livelihood It is not in the national interest that people should feci Compelled to defer urgent hospital medical care because of lack of personal funds It could be true that more people in Canada today fear cost of personal illness much more than they fear anything else IN FEAR It is profoundly prejudicial to the moral spiritual and physical health of a nation when a majority of its citixens
