rebuilding Maiij St- In a recent editorial in your newspaper you extolled the vir tues of rebuilding Main St believe that all of the mem bers of council are In agreement with the need of rebuilding Main With this viewpoint a major ity of the people of Newmarket would likely be in agreement So far we are one happy family When It comes to the method of paying it does nor seem too fantastic to suggest that a of the taxpayers of our town disagree with the Issuance of a debenture to be paid by oh estimated increase in the gen eral tax rate to ail the people of two mills this estimate being contained mayors letter to the taxpayers Let us say that I or any other of the taxpayers should happen to own a home Hamilton St or any other street in which we and oh which wo pay axes Let us suppose that we own an apartment building or another house or houses in another- part of town these extra properties being owned carry ona ren tal business at a profit If pave ment is required in front of these business properties the general taxpayer is not requested to pay an increase of two mills on his tax rate to finance this pave ment The property owners on that particular street circulate a petition requesting the town to pave if a majority of names are affixed to this petition the pavement is placed the light of these circum stances the vote on the rebuild ing of Main St under the gen
