council voted on Mon day to advertise for tenders on a 500000 six per cent debenture issue Councillors were unimpres sed by warnings of no response on the part of bond dealers it the issue were advertised John Graham of the firm of Bell Gouinlock told council that his firm was prepared to option on the issue at a yield to the town of per plus interest but would not tender if the issue were advertised Our firm has looked over the market and believes it could do something with Aurora debentur es he said Mr Graham added that the fact that no other deal ers were represented at council indicated a lack of interest of their part in the issue since it was common knowledge in bond circ les that Aurora was going into the market suggest it would be embar rassing for you if you called for tenders he added Mr Graham predicted that they wouldnt get a nibble and the only other place they could go would be the municipal board His firm was the most aggres sive in the field he stated claim ing that they had sold more mu nicipal debentures in the last three months than all their com petitors combined Bond circles had forecast a rise in the munici pal board rate which would give the town was the best they could get and voted to advertise the issue NEW CONSTABLE ON AURORAS POLICE FORCE At Mondays meeting Aurora council passed the appointment of Don Coombs as probationary con stable on the Aurora police force Mr Coombs who has had nine years experience on an English police force was interviewed and found satisfactory by the police committee on Saturday He is to start as soon as possible The interview was surprising for both Mr Coombs who came from England last month and Town Clerk George Wilkinson Mr Wilkinson discovered that the new constable had roomed with his brother council Monday night to complain that his water service had been cut off reason and without notice and asked council to restore it told council that his had been off for more than a week and he wanted
