CELEBRATING Burnstown WI June 25, 2011 marked the 100th Anniversary celebration for the remarkable ladies of Burnstown WI (Eastern Area). The day started off with a light luncheon and special tea, followed by the unveiling of the anniversary quilt. Opening remarks were given by Branch President, Jane Flain, and then off they went, stepping back in time with the reâ€"enactment ofthe first Branch Minutes. From frills and hats accented with fine linens and lace to fresh cut flowers even/where, everyone and everything was beautiful. Lakeside WI The MembersofLakeside WI (London Area) gathered to celebrate their Branch’s 100th Anniversary on May 6, 2011 with 85 guests in attendance. Mayor of Zorra, Margaret Lupton (who is a WI Member herself), presented a plaque from the Township. FWIO President, Carol |nnes, and London Area President, Berniece Harris, offered their congratulations to Lakeside WI Members. On February 10, 1911, a meeting was held at the home of Mrs. F.G. Seaton to organize the Branch and by the end of 1911, 23 Members had joined. Lakeside WI is the second Branch in Oxford District to celebrate 100 years. St. Pauls WI The Members of St. Pauls WI (London Area) celebrated the 100th Anniversary of their Branch on February 23, 2011. A beautiful winter’s day greeted the 175 people who came togetherfor this memorable occasion. Each Member wore a yellow carnation corsage trimmed with blue ribbon, courtesy of the late Jeanne Coulthard, along with their 100 Year Pins. A time capsule, which was put together for the Branch’s 90th Anniversary, was opened to reveal an assortment of special items, including letters that each Member had written. Pictured (Lâ€"R) are Branch President Marlene Coulthard, Elsie Coulthard, Colleen Coulthard, Jessie Scheuermann, Doreen Van Westrop, Libby Wright, Brenda Watson, Winston Coulthard (representing his mother, the late Jeanne Coulthard), Marie Bean, Roberta Dundas and Miriam Dunbar. Birr WI On April 14, 2011, 100 years offemale camaraderie and work to benefit Home and Country were acknowledged during the 100th Anniversary celebration of Birr WI (London Area). Birr WI President Helen White introduced special guests including WI dignitaries and government representatives. The Goldies band provided entertainment throughout the afternoon. As the Goldies sang "The More We Get Together, the Happier We’ll Be,” the women all joined hands to sing ' and sway along to the lyrics. Pictured: Birr Wl Members cut their anniversary cake.
