Stormont-Dundas District Elaine Hutchinson was presented with the Woman of Excellence Fair Award in 2012 for her community involvement. Elaine is the mother of seven children, 13 grandchildren and 4 greatâ€"grandchildren. She helps raise money for her church and attends all WI meetings. JOB WELL DONE Back in 1981, while teaching at Newington Public School, Elaine and Shirley Aitken, with initial help from Reta Raymond, started the ï¬rst Educational Department at the Stormont County Fair. Shirley helped until she retired a few years later, but Elaine continued for several years. She has been Viceâ€"President of the Stormont County Fair, member of the Photographic Committee and, in 1992, she created the ï¬rst Donor Appreciation Display to show the prizes donated by area businesses, and the lists ofsponsors to the fair. Over the years, Elaine has been a very active community worker. Congratulations Elaine! York Road WI Sharon French from York Road WI (Trent Valley Area) won 2 ï¬rst prizes for her quilt depicting a village with a train station. It is quite a work of art and Sharon’s fellow Members are extremely proud of her! The quilt was displayed at the Trent Valley Quilters‘ Guild, held at the Knights ofColumbus Hall in Trenton, Ontario on April 21st and 22nd. Fiat 173mm“ 14 Kirkton WI Five Members of Kirkton W| (London Area) were recognized with Ontario Volunteer Service Awards by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. These awards recognize individual volunteers for continuous years of commitment and dedicated service to an organization. The awards were presented on March 22, 2012 at Arden Park in Stratford.
