ROSE comes from our hearts To all women we appeal Age, status, environment, We reach out to heal Through workshops, seminars, meetings and talk Our words offer knowledge, love and support. r039“ mml onluno mum; e/lilcmmn By Burgoyne WI BRANCH PROFILE: Stoney Creek Charter WI Since the membership of the Stoney Creek WI â€" the "Mother Institute†â€" was having difï¬culty ï¬nding enough Members to form a full executive, the Branch approached their District about the problem. A plan was formed to replace the Stoney Creek WI with the formation of the Stoney Creek Charter WI. To make it a permanent setâ€"up, a Member bill was passed in the Ontario Legislature at Queen’s Park in Toronto, signed by the Honourable John Newman in 1978. The Branch’s constitution was set-up and each Member paid an annual fee of one dollar. The Branch does not have voting privileges at the District or Provincial levels. The ï¬rst meeting ofthe Stoney CreekCharterWl was held at the Erland Lee (Museum) Home on June 7, 1978 at 7pm. In the 1978-1979 year, the Charter WI had 43 Members. Today, the Branch consists of 24 Members and continues to help raise funds for various causes within the community.This past February,the Branch marked the 115th Anniversary of Women’s Institute by meeting for a special lunch at Village Restaurant in Stoney Creek.
