Maple Grove WI Maple Grove WI (Guelph Area) hosted a ROSE Session on the people behind an Olympian â€" their families. For many parents, making arrangements to attend the Olympics can be a difï¬cult task. That is where Jane Sherk of Waterloo has stepped in. With Jane’s help, parents ofOlympic athletes can travel together, have the same accommodations, and feel united as they cheer on their children. In special attendance at this meeting was Life Member, Dorothy Smith, whose granddaughter, Becky Kellar, was a member ofthe Canadian Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team that won gold in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Becky’s mother, Shirley, shared stories, photos and memorabilia of her daughter’s Olympic experiences. Purple Grove WI Purple Grove WI (Greyâ€"Bruce Area) hosted a ROSE Session to learn about a mission for cancer care. Four ladies started a mission to provide free hats, wigs and accessories for men, women and children in their community who have lost their hair due to cancer â€" and now this is a mission for all of Southwestern Ontario. Over 30 individuals participated in this ROSE Session, and a collection enabled the Branch to donate $50 to the mission. Grand Bend WI At theirJanuary meeting, Members ofGrand Bend WI (London Area) made tea biscuits, scones and easy cinnamon rolls. These biscuits were baked and served for lunch. It was a very interesting project. The roll call was to bring in your favourite kitchen tool...no husbands. Antique and unique articles were also displayed.
