l"a@‘1f颧\£gd “ ~ By International Officer, Cindi Rabstein ACWW Recently, a Member asked how many Pennies for Friendship are collected from the 9 Areas. Margaret Yetman provided the following information: €131,672 (2009), €117,000 (2010), and €115,378 (Janâ€"Oct 2011). As of yet, there are no figures for Novâ€" Dec 2011. This is the only way that ACWW funds their projects, so any extra that you can send would be very much appreciated. I mentioned in the last newsletter that I have addresses for Pen Pals in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa. Please send me a stamped, selfâ€" addressed envelope, and I will send you the form to fill out. ACWW Day is April 29, 2012! ACWW has asked every Branch to walk for Pennies for Friendship, Women Walk the World, and hopefully get people to sponsor you and, of course, get photos and let your local press know. Projects of ACWW Here are some other projects that ACWW is involved in: - Project in Ghana: Infant Care Techniques explained to students in Hohoe District by qualified health staff, who give the instructions and monitor progress. - Project in Cameroon: Disease Prevention Training Program against HIV/ AIDS by Mambi Rural Women’s Group. - Project in Kenya: Kayioko Widows and Widowers Group Project to improve fishing and nutrition on Lake Victoria â€" purchasing vital equipment and organizing training in engine maintenance, fishing techniques and record keeping. In part consideration was time and place and fun; however, this is an everâ€" changing process and I do my best to bring a new approach to every workshop. My strategy is to build and mold, through enthusiasm and the creative process, a membership resource every Member can fall back on for real solutions to real problems but you have to follow through. Knowing what needs done and not doing it is no more effective than leaving the scrub bucket and mop sitting in the corner and expecting to have a clean floor. I’m asking you to "move the mop"; make the call, invite the friend and speak with enthusiasm and passion about WI. Contact me with questions regarding the Iris Incentive. The new improved form is in thiHome & Country ROSE Garden mailing. Debbie Bauer can be reached by email at deauer@hurontel.on.ca or by phone at 519â€"529â€"7820. Mam 3&7 13
