King George and Queen Elizabeth, to our country in May, we, as Institute members will take a special interest in Their Majesties' visit because of the long association of Her Majesty with the Women‘s Institutes of Great Britain. As a young girl, Queen Elizabeth was a member of the Knebworth Women‘s Institute, and as Queen, Her Majesty has con- tinued to be actively interested in the movement. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary are joint Presidents of the Sandringham Women’s Institute of England. The folIowing excerpt from “The Countrywoman" of December, 1938, will be of interest to all Institute members: "When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth visited the N.Y.W.I. Handicrafts Exhibition in London, England, Mrs. Alfred Watt. president of the Associated Country Women of the World, was presented by Lady Denman. Her Majesty is graciously accepting some accounts of the Canadian Women‘s Institute work which Mrs. Watt is presenting before the royal visit.” We are honoured in having been granted permission to send a greeting from the Women’s Institutes of Ontario to Queen Elizabeth on Her Majesty’s arrival in Ontario. This greeting will express our pleasure in the visit of the King and Queen to this country. It will assure Her Majesty of our personal affection and loyalty, as well as our sincere appreciation of Her Majesty’s interest in the welfare of our organization. To know that the Queen is in sym« pathy with our ideals is a constant source of inspiration and encouragement to us all.
