Members of limehouse 4-H Homemaking Club taking the unit "Meet in the Menu" in a skit “Let's Cook It Right." The ski! showed how a new marriage was kept happy when the bride folned a homemaking club and learned to cook. the Junior Farmers and the Senior Institutes. She mentioned the opportunity to learn parâ€" liamentary procedure through association with the Senior Institute (and, we presume, through the use of the Institute Hand Book). Mrs. Haggerty replied that the Senior Branch benefits very much through associaâ€" tion with the Juniors â€" that the Women’s Institutes profit greatly from the vitality and “young ideas” of girls. Thelma K. Schuyler traced the relation of junior and senior Institutes as given in the new Junior Institute brochure. Miss Scott felt that it is not easy for a girl to know all about this relationship and her junior insti- tute’s place in the whole set-up right up to the international organization and she recomâ€" ended that the girls study the brochure in their own branches. Helen French suggested that they also study the Junior Institute Conâ€" stitution and By-laws, pages 14 to 18 in the i and Book. In the discussion Helen Kay Schuyler said hat she wanted to move from the junior o the senior branch, when the time came for his, just as her mother had done. And then t came out that Mrs. Haggerty had started 'n a Junior Institute. There was some discus- ion on how to have a closer connection etween the two organizations, and Mrs. Hag» erty mentioned cases where the juniors had ut on the programme at a senior meeting. he also referred to the case of Mrs, Ken- eth Spence of Owen Sound Junior Institute :. ho is 3150 First Vice-President of North ' rey District, and whose article on “Junior- enior Relationships" is in this issue. Mrs. Haggerty reported that the Hand Book 5 now being revised and that the committee f ould like to have recommendations concern- " E Junior Institutes from Junior Institute a embers. Cunarth Champion and Peel; Miss Jean Scott. Supervisor County and District Home Economists. Incidentally, it will be some time before the new Hand Book is completed. In the meantime copies of the Hand Book now in use can be purchased from the F.W.I.O. Secâ€" retaryâ€"Treasurer, Mrs. Gordon Maynard, Un- ionville. The price is 25 cents. A New Member’s Club Story This club story sent to us by a County Home Economist tells so much about the in- tangibles of club work that we felt it should be published. It was written in a member’s first record book. “At last I am twelve and now I can go to 4-H Club! Our first meeting was held at the home of one of our leaders, Mrs. Armstrong. As we sat around the table writing notes I felt strange and shy with 12 girls I didn’t even know, When we were finished the notes. each girl was measured to be sure of the cor» rect size of pattern to get as this unit was on Sleeping Garments. Then Mrs. Armstrong ex- plained that we should buy everything needed before the next meeting. “That week my Mother and I bought every» thing needed, “At the second meeting I felt a lot better, as if I had been going for two years. That’s how nice the girls are. They are friendly and don’t leave you to do things for yourself. If you have trouble with any of your work and the leaders are busyI the girls are more than happy to help you. “In this unit I have learned to make good strong pyjamas and also to put a flat fell seam, French seam and lapped seam in any kind of garment. “As the Weeks passed and as I Worked on my pyjamas, I got them finished in no time. In two weeks it will be Achievement Day and I am looking forward to that more than anyâ€" thing in the World!” Editor’s Note: If Junior Institute members would like to have this department appear in each issue, will they please send reports of what they are doing? 41
