LYMBURNER, the newly Melected president of the FCdETfited Women‘s Institutes of Ontario, conducted the opening ceremonies of the Spring Board Meetv ing at the Ontario College. May 2â€"4. and Pami tribute to the work carried on by the members of the Board during the year. She expressed her appreciation to all who had offered suggemonS for the carrying on of the work and especially for their assurances of goodwill. Mrs Lyburner at this time paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Hugh Summers, Fonthill. who passed away in April. Mrs, Summers was F.W.I.O. president from 1944-7. She held many offices in F.W.I.C. and was a past world vice- president of A.C.W.W. In her report to the Board. Mrs. Lymburner spoke on the projects undertaken by members of F.W.I.O. The Adelaide Hoodless Home Fund. a national project. asked for the support of all members at the rate of ten cents per member. This fund has not yet reached its goal. "It should he a matter of pride that this home eventually is to become a centre for all Women‘s Institutes members regardless of whether they are in On- tario. across the Dominion or in other countries," said Mrs. Lymburner. “It can be a tangible tribute to those who have worked unceasingly in the past so that there is an organization of women ready to assist those in need." said Mrs. Lymburner. She asked that branches that have not yet sub- scribed to this fund send in their commitments right away. Almost $7,000 had been voluntarily subscribed to World Refugee Yenr. Mrs. Lymburner urged members to devote their energies. time and money to the develop- ment of the Women‘s Institute programme. The matter of declining membership in the organizer tion is the cause of some concern. Many factors enter into this, said the president. and it is planned to organize a membership campaign. Speaking of the investment of scholarship funds. Mrs. Lymbumer said the amount was $56.- 100 and that a Trust Fund Scholarship Finance Committee would be appointed to administer the investment of those funds. From the results of the Farm Accident Survey made last year, the President said it has been I‘ound necessary to set up Safety Councils and the Women‘s Institute will be asked to take part in a Home Safety Programme. The F.W.I.O. crest "For Home and Country" has been fully registered and a committee of Mrs. Lyniburncr. Mrs. G. Holder and Miss McKercher will look for a suitable design for an oflicial Women‘s Institute cup and saucer.
