In extending a wel- come to the new Board Directors. the Presiâ€" dent. Mrs. L. G. Lymburner invited them to enter into discussions and to ask questions whenever a subject under discussion was not clear, In her Presidential Report, Mrs. Lymâ€" burner told of the movie which had been made at the Adelaide Hoddless Homestead and Which. it is expected. will be shown at the A.C.W.W. Conference in Australia in 1962. Submitted in a contest featuring historical places. it placed first. The movie was made by Mrs. Winnifred Hobbs. Port Colborne. THE Annual Board Meeting of the Feder- Reviewing the activities of F.W.I.O. during the past year. Mrs. Lvmburner suggested that instead of giving to other organizations the Very large amounts which are given each year, we establish an International Scholarship to train home economists to work with F.A.O. in underdeveloped countries. Such a scholarâ€" ship would retain our identity and could be established in one year. said Mrs. Lymburner. not by asking our members to raise more money but by simply reducing the amount of our donations to organizations wherein our identity is lost. Such a program to work for WINTER 1961 Oflicer F.W.[.O. world peace would be a fitting memorial for the sisty~tifth anniversary year The Donations Report showed that in the past year Women's Institute branches had given to other organiza- tions. in money and other donations. LI sum in excess of SIB-LSIIJJU. One Area Report ot Donations had not been received and this re- port would no doubt bring the total to about $150000. Scholarships To mark the sixty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the Women‘s Institute. it was de- cided to increase the number of scholarships to students entering Macdonald Institute. From the Adelaide Hoodlcss Scholarship Fund there is an accumulation of $1.000. Five scholarâ€" ships are awarded annually from this fund. After a discussion it was decided to make additional awards. stipulating that they be awarded to students who had never before re- ceived a Women‘s Institute Macdonald Insti- tute award. A suggestion that the Women‘s Institute County Scholarships, which are awarded an- nually and which vary in value from $60 to $120. be consolidated and awards equalized, was favoured by the Board Members. the Scholarship Trust Fund Committee to study this suggestion and report to the Board.
