Gardens; or a visit to the new Halifax Shop- ping Centre. The city of Halifax and the Nova Scotia Women’s Institutes hosted a luncheon at the Nova Scotian Hotel, at which Alderman Abbie Lane presided for the Mayor and ex- tended the civic welcome. A conducted tour of the city with a stop at the Halifax Citadel was followed by a Shore Dinner given by the Province of Nova Scotia. This was a real “lob- ster boil", a never-to-beâ€"forgotten experience new to most of those across Canada, but with- out which a visit to Nova Scotia would not have been complete. The Nova Scotia tartan displayed on every name tag, the skirl of the bagpipes as they piped in the platform dignitaries at the opening ceremonies and the head table guests at the Banquet, and the display of Scottish dancing called to mind the wealth of historical back- ground of the hostess Province. The Conven- tion choir, made up of members from all Prov- inces and the Northwest Territories singing together for the first time, thrilled everyone not only with their music but with the feeling of unity as they sang such numbers as “From East to West" and "For Home and Country is our motto.” An organ recital on the magnificent $60,000 Casavant organ by Prof. Russell Green, Dean of the School of Music, Acadia University, delighted the audience. Drama also had its place with the presentation by the Wolf- ville Players of the lst prize-winning play in the Senator Cairine Wilson Citizenship project, “May the Best Man Win." In the Provincial presentations, Ontario delegates staged the skit “A Concern for Children" written by Miss Ethel Chapman to Show various projects which have been undertaken recently. The Gift Stall to which Branches were asked to contribute articles for sale was fantastic in the variety, quality and number of the goods. From every corner of Canada and. particularâ€" ly the North, came beautiful and unique craft work, and by the end of the Convention the shop was completely sold out and the coffers of F.W.I.C. enriched by more than $1800.00.
