F.W.I.O. was held in the Common Room of Macdonald College, University of Guelph, April 25-28. 1967. Thirty-two board members, each representing a sub-division in the Province were officially welcomed bv Mrs. Everett Small. President. who expressed her sincere appreciation for the co-operation. courtesies and kindnesses bestowed on her as she represented F.W.I.O. at many levels. Miss Barbara Watkins. Clinton, Junior Board Direc- tor Etect, and Miss Joy Hayward. Alternate Elect, arrived later to represent Mrs. T. A. Farrell and Miss Charlotte Davis. who were unable to be present. Following acceptance of the Minutes. Mrs. Small outlined followwup items of interest from same. Reference was made re brief to proâ€" vincial Parliament on trading stamps. which was reported later. The proposed display of badges at Expo was not feasible. As requested. F.W.I.O. sent the branch member's badge for display in national office. Mrs. Small expressed F.W.I.O.'s pleasure on the announcement that the Canadian Agrol- ogists Association had honored Dr. Fthel Chapman for her continuing contribution over the years. Dr. Chapman was one of live. and the only woman so honored. and a letter of congratulations was sent to her from l".‘t\’.l,0. The President Speaks In her presidential report. Mrs. Small said. “Representing you is a combination or work and pleasure." as she gave a resume of meek ings attended including all F.W.I.O. committee meetings. Ontario Conservation ('ouncll. Women's Advisory Committee for Expo. Unâ€" tario Food Council. Ontario Welfare ('ouncil. Macdonald Institute. Junior I’armcrs' t‘onfcr- once. and the sevcntiCIh anniversary on Feb- ruary 15th of the founding of the Women's Institute at Stoney Creek. Mrs. Small reminded her Board that branch members are ol tirst .importancc and we must sharpen our individ- ‘ual perception of what is important in our organization. The Women’s Institute centennial Project is to increase membership in Ontario and she was confident this could be done if every branch member puts forth the clfort engendered in her responsibility. Mrs. Small announced that Miss Muriel Bostwick. last granddaughter of Mrs. Adelaide Headless. died last year, She bequeathed one- third of the residue of her estate to the present Adelaide Hoodless Scholarship Fund at Mae- donald Institute. The post conference tour to Expo on June |7th was not entirer filled but all indications point to an overflow crowd on the opening day when Mrs. Aroti Dull. President of A.(‘.W.W. will be the guest speaker. Following Mrs. Dult's address at this opening day on June 12th a collection will be taken for “Pennies for Friendship" and a presentation of the same from all the provinces will be made to Mrs. Dull, Each district is supplying two or more gifts for the handicraft booth to hpr defray costs ol the national convention.
