The Home Economics Branch Miss Helen McKercher, Director of the Home Economics Branch of the Ontario De- partment of Agriculture and Food reported the continual growth of their program. She said that there was an increase of nearly 1000 in- dividual girls in the 4-H Homemaking Club Projects last year. One new project, “Needleâ€" craft" was introduced and other projects are being updated and given new names. In WomEn’s Institute projects sponsored by the Home Economics Branch there were 1].- 112 ladies attending Summary days and Train- ing Schools and more than 8000 women at Short Courses and Food Forums from all over the province. There was a total participation in the Home Economics program, junior and sen- ior. of 53,841 which represents an increase at 3.165 over last year. Children‘s Clothing and Quilts are being made into a twoâ€"day Training School. The Baking With Yeast Training School had the greatest number of partici- pants. Women‘s Institute members are to be enâ€" couraged to use the facilities of the Loan Li- brary and the many kits available for pro- grams. Miss McKercher urged the Board Directors to impreSS upon the membership that their ideas and suggestions for future pro- SUMMER 1969 grams would be appreciated.
