Membership 7.819.178 Contributing Memberships 4.000 Life Members . . . . . 353. At the Council Meeting. President Mrs. OIâ€" ive Farquharson, O.B.E. emphasized that a purpose of the meeting was to assess progre5s on the Oslo Conference theme. "Pathways to Progress." “It is important that we know all what is going on,” the President said. It was reported that A.C.W.W. has new ofâ€" fice quarters at Suite D. 5/51 Warwick Square. Victoria, London, S.W.].V.2.A.J. Eng- land. The Suite contains 7 rooms on a second floor and a good sized room in the basement. It is served by an elevator, has a small kitch~ enette and an entrance hall. It is being newly wired and decorated. To finance the expense of setting up the new office some A.C.W.W. bonds were sold and a bank loan arranged. but help is needed from the Societies. Much appreciation was expressed for the generous donations of Pennies For Friendship and we are urged to keep them flowing. For the A.C.W.W. It was announced that the subscription price of The Countrywoman might have to be raised due to rising costs, but it was doubted if this would be reflected in an increase in the cost of Contributing Memberships. The Lady Aberdeen Scholarship Committee â€" The following are reported as having been projects assisted by this committee. 1. Assistance to the National Association of Women’s Institutes of West Malaysia for train- ing courses in five centres with four hundred persons receiving training. 2. Assisted in leadership training courses or ganized by the Sarawak Women’s Institute. 3. Contribution made to Rhodesian Homeâ€" craft Training Course for African Women. 4. Contributions made to an A.C.W.W. Car- ibbean Seminar. 5. Individual awards made to two members of the Botswana Council of Women to study nutrition, mother and child care, handicrafts. leadership in community development in Monze Homecraft Training Centre in Zambia. 6. A contribution toward expenses of a course for rural women in the Menze Area. 7. Three students have been sponsored â€" one in Fiji and one in British Honduras to atâ€" tend the Oslo Conference who have made contributions in their work back home: and one in Jordan who worked in refugee camps. WIN‘IER 1973 8. Joint award with Indiana Farm Burt:in Women‘s Department. USA. to give a mem- ber of the Jamaican Federation of Women four months training in the University of West Indies. 9. Grant to a Society in Spain to help them organize evening classes in food and nutrition. The Triennial Conference, 1974 to be held in Perth. Australia October 8â€"18 in Perth Con- cert Hall and smaller halls in the vicinity for smaller meetings. Registration lee $25.00. Theme â€" A World to Share. A.C.W.W. Ad Hoc projects completed: I. Lesotho Project 2. Electric sewing machines to Turkey 3. Six sewing machines to Panama 4. Twenty pounds of sewing materials to Greece 5. Sewing machines to Rhodesia 6. Braille duplicator supplied to Indonesia School for the Blind 7. Fund closed at $2.500 for water holes in Botswana. The Council session closed with an c\cc|lcnt skit presented by n Surrey Women‘s Institute drama group and based on the skit written by Mrs. Austin Zocllcr and presented by the New Hamburg Women's Institute when Mrs. Far- quharson attended the meeting. Save Sight. At the last A.C.W.W. Confer- ence in Oslo. Norway. Mrs. Aroti Dult was ap- pointed chairman of the Ad Hoc Nutritional Deficiency Committee. Complying with a resâ€" olution adopted at Oslo. the purpose of the committee is to arrange pilot proiects in nutri- tional education for women with the special 11
