However. we have received some donations which will be on sale, also on sale will be place mats, servicttes, and hasti notes with the picture of the Home. _ The Committee is doing its best to prolect the Home of the co-founder, not only in the memory of the past but to make this a living. breathing part of the Women’s Institutes of Ontario. We are depending on all members of the Ontario Women’s Institutes to promote this project, to assist with donations if possible and to encourage visits by bus trips. HOME ECONOMICS BRANCH, MJNISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD Miss Helen McKercher Director In her report Miss McKercher said, “The Home Economics Branch, through its program of extension education for women and girls enâ€" deavours to improve the quality of life in rural Ontario through up dated homemaking prac- tices and good management of time and family resources.†To carry out its extension program the Home Economics Branch relies heavily on assistance from Ontario women, a large percentage of whom are members of the Women’s Institutes, who work in close cooperation with the county and district Home Economists. The Program of the Branch is developed and carried out by the director, five supervisors and nine specialists in the Toronto office, three regional home economics supervisors, thirty-six county and district home economists and three ARDA home economists in field offices throughout Ontario and volunteer leaders. In 1972â€"1973, 140 short courses and work- shops were held with attendance of 2,640, and 57 food forums were attended by 5,606. The branch loan library provides resource materials to assist in program planning. In 1972-1973 there were 1.714 requests. The 4H Homemaking Club program for girls and young women of twelve to twenty-six years of age gives training in homemaking and conâ€" n'ibutes to the girl‘s development as a member of her family, her community and as a good citizen. Last year, 284 leaders‘ training schools were held and there were 3.069 clubs with a membership of 29.650. Miss McKercher concluded her report by congratulating the directors for the fine work 10 they are doing for their homes and communi- ties at the local level and at the national and international levels, through the Women’s In- stitutes. Perth Conference For those who are going to the Perth Con ference, it is interesting to note that the pro conference tours are being planned for men and women.
