' Mottoes and roll calls are a very worthwhile part of our Branch meetings if we make a real effort to answer the roll calls and really think about what the motto is telling us Ifwe fail to do so the purpose of both is lost. Programmes were most interesting and showed that much thought and planning had gone into their preparation. Some topics covered were: A study of passport and citizenship regulations; Legal rights for women; Regional Government seems to have been a popular topic; How can we protect our future; The Metric System; The place of the North American In- dian in society today; International Woman’s Year; Simple laws of which every woman should be aware; Benefits Canadian citizens have that other countries do not; Characteristics of a good citizen: talks and slides on other countries and other parts of Canada and the world visited by branch members and their friends. Programmes were presented in many ways, by skits. panels. speakers. slides and papers. Pen pals were reported in the various provinces of Canada and in other countries. I had many requests for pen pals in our twin province. British Columbia. So far I have not been successful in answering all requests for pen pals but will keep trying. Plan to allot at least one meeting to some aspect of the work of the United Nations. Invite neighbors from other countries to Branch meeting. learn of their cus- toms, foods. clothing. Only one mention was made of the “Status of Women“ in the Area reports. study the work of the onâ€" going committee on the Status of Women and know what it is doing. Plan to send delegates to every District Annual and to every Area Convention from your branch. That is the way to keep abreast of the work of the W.l. in our province and in Canada and in the world. “This is the beginning ofa new day. God has given us this day to use as we will. We can waste it or use it for good. What we do today is important because we are exchanging a day of our lives for it. “When tomorrow comes. this day will be gone forâ€" ever, leaving in its place something we have traded for it.
