The Life Line of ACWW The idea of “Pennies for Friendship” was sug- gested by Mrs. Godfrey Drage to the ACWW London Conference in l939. Constituent Societies’on all five’ continents now contribute voluntarily to this worth- while project. It supplies extra funds for the day-t9- day operations at the International Headquarters in london. adds to the fund for the President's travel, in fact the "Pennies" form the main financial support for the ACWW. Originally an International programme in Februâ€" ary was encouraged at Branch level when a collection was taken for Pennies. a special speaker was invited. folk songs were learned and a study made of another country. However. many branches now pass the Penny jar at each meeting. Whatever method is used. can only add to the sound reasoning that Pennies are important and the . contribution to this fund must not lag. When we read of the projects that are a part of ACWW. it is wise for us to keep in mind “Pennies for Friendship“ form the main support for ACWW. Let’s keep this priority in mind.
