DIRECTOR OF HOME ECONOMICS BRANCH The Home Economics Branch is constantly trying to meet the needs of the women in rural Ontario Hopefully the courses offered are helpful and are meaningful to those who attend. “Last year I reported the Nutrition Workshops had received good support, however, the questionnaires did not receive as wide a support. One must evaluate what has been accomplished during the year. First establish where you are going and what you are doing and then take time at the end of evaluation. Have your programmes planned well in advance and work with the Home Economists. One who is afraid to ask questions. is afraid to learn. This coming year Tweedsmuir and Procedure Workshops will be held on a District basis. This will allow a greater opportunity for more branches to at- tend with a wide scope for discussion and ideas. which in turn can be taken back and put into practical use to benefit the whole District. Minister of the Ministry ol'Agricullure and Food. hosted a dinner in honour of the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario Provinâ€" ciul Board of Directors and members of the Home Economics Branch. Head table guests were introduced by the Deputy Minister. Mr. R. G. Bennett. and Mr. K. E. Lantz. As- sistant Deputy Minister. introduced The Hon. Mr. Newman. Mr, Newman paid high tribute to the former Min- ister. Mr. Wm. A. Stewart. for his tremendous contri- bution lo Agriculture over the past years and to Miss Helen McKcrcher. Director. for her work among the women in the Province and the excellent programmes pmvided through the Home Economics Branch. The Minister continued to say he pledged his sup- port to Women’s institutes. complimenting them on their many accomplishments over the last 78 years.
