Mrs. Roma McMillan takes over duties. of Secretary Treasurer for the Federated Women ’s Institutes of Can- ada. Elma Branch was organized in Mrs. Roma McMillan‘s home in I947. “Roma.†elected ï¬rst Vice President at the meeting has supported the work ofthe Women's Institute ever since. A charter member of Elma Branch in Dundas Disâ€" trict. she has held many ofï¬ces over the last twentyâ€" ï¬ve years in her branch. but her concern and interest in the Women‘s Institute led her to hold ofï¬ce at other levels as well. She served as secretary-treasurer and president ofthe Dundas District and moved on to be- come president of the Eastern (Ottawa) Area. A director on the Provincial Board of the Federâ€" ated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario. she expanded her leadership ability and was known on the Board as a member who did her "homework" and came prepared to enter into discussion. Mrs. McMillan served as a member on the Ontario Food Council during her years as Board Director of FWIO. Born in Lachine. Quebec. educated there and the Montreal West High School. she continued on to Busi- ness College and upon graduation was associated with the Robert Simpson Company in Montreal. In 1935 She married Hugh A. McMillan and moved to Wil- liamsburg. Ontario. After raising her family shejoined the staff in I956 of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital in Winchester. In I976 she resigned as busi- ness othce manager and was appointed secretary treas- urer of FWIC later in the year. Mrs. McMillan is well known in music circles in Ottawa and district. as a member of Parkdale Concert Orchestra and is presently the president of the Ottawa and District Old Time Fiddlers Association.
