Arriving on July 7 she is met by the Provincial President Mrs. H. Maluske at Toronto Eln- t'l‘l'lflllul'lfli Airport and spent the next 2 days With the President at KT home in Chesley. (Mrs. Diamonds‘ Branch) and personal friends who had served tin FWlO. The highlights of the next two days (chauffeer by Mrs. Dia- mond) were visits to both the Erland Lee Home. Stoney Creek and the Adelaide Hoodless Homestead. St. George, At both homes the local committees were on hand and our visitor was able to see through the homes and walk around the grounds. Al the Lee every- body sat around the dining room table (on which Constitution was ‘tnllcn in i897) for supper. while at the Hoodless all enjoyed morn- ing refreshments using the antique china. Mrs. Hacket-Fain was able to see the maple tree planted in 1967 when the FWIC Convene lion was held in Guelph when one of the special guests to plant the tree was ACWW President Aroti Dutt. Brant County members gathered at the home of Provincial Curator Mrs. R. C. Walker for a bullet luncheon. Mrs. Hacket-Pain delighted the members by addressing them informally. A tour ofthe historic sites in Brant County. the Niagara Penin- sula including the Falls and to Ayr Ontario for a comparison with its namesake in Scotland. The famous day “the 13th" found Mrs. H. P. at Bjngeman Park meeting and greeting as many members as possible and delivering her keynote address. With no time to catch her breath she and Mrs. Maluske hopped on Hammond’s bus. bound for Bracebridge as “"55 guests oer. a; Mrs. Harry Smith, PRO for Northern Area. UP and away the next morning our special guest was driven around Muskoka Centre District to visit “interest spots“ and in the Evening Subdivision 26 members and Board Director. Mrs. Ethel Liddard met in the Ullswater W] Hall for a get-together. On to Subdivision 2? and Board Director Mrs. Chas. Fetterley who drove the visitors to a Small Claims Court and to meet at a luncheon prepared by Parry Sound South District. an afternoon tour and then supper meetingi with Parry Sound North and Niptss~ ing Districts. A drive around Kirkland Lake. the Mining Museum and Wildlife Park Wl‘li'l a stopover at Mrs Estelle Rodgers, Sec. Treas. Temiskaming Centre for a Turkey dinner then an evening social for members at Savard School. After a night's sleep. they attended church and headed south to Temagami for lunch Mrs. Nelda Cranston. Board Director for Suhdivtsion 1'9 met them and took over. They then travelled to Lively tor a buffet sup- per, craft and qtult display in charge of Sudbiiry Drstrict members. Algoma East and North Shore Disu-ict members met for afternoon tea and Algoma Centre enjoyed a lawn social at Wildings. From the 300 to Thunder Bay, again enjoying the scenery along the way to be met by Mrs. Phillip Boyko of that City. Board Director 3|, a harbour cruise. tour of Old Fort William. TV taping. Presenta- tion by the Mayor of a scroll and plate and Smnrgashord banquet with Thunder Bay North and South members. completed the north- em tour. Mrs. Maluskc and Mrs. Hackct-Pain flew back to Toronto. Mrs. H. P. flew to Ottawa to Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Noblitt‘s for the week- end. This was a week-end to catch one‘s breath. take it easy. visit, and drive Mrs. Haeket-Pain to Russell to be the housc guest of Mr. St Mrs. Geo McCafl'rey. Board Director Subdivision No l for the next 5 days, A tour otOttawa. on two occasions included the Art Centre. Par- liament Buildings. [mamaiiona] Development Research Centre, during these visits Mr. Geo McCafi'rey. entertained at the Rideau Carleton Raceway, and Chateau Laurier. A special 30th anniversary celebration was held at Mercalle with over 200 members attending. Guest speakers Mrs. l-laeket-Pain and Dr. Irene Spry. Roma McMillan. FWlC Secretary Treasurer enter- tained Subdivision 1 members at her summer cottage on the St. Lawrence. Dundas District also had a special evening With over 300 in attendance.
