Local residents, guest speakers told of the changes n Bluevale and community, Eldon McKinney and George Thomson brought back many memories when they spoke at the Tweedsmuir weeting. Mr. McKinney recalled the history of milling. one -l' the many Bluevale industries, years ago. and Mr. Thomson .Id of buttermaking down through the years. Mr. McKinney stated that the Leich family built a dam 33 years ago, brought equipment from Seaforth and arted a flour mill. later expanding with a sawmill and flax rill. Later it changed to grinding grain rather than making rur. A shingle mill was also built. The ownership changed veral times from water wheel power to gas engine, then to csel. The pond was taken over by the Conservation rthon'ty not so many years ago, Mr. Thomson spoke about the cheese factory being oper- -d by Woodstock Co. with shares sold to milk suppliers. re building was destroyed twice by fire and rebuilt. In ‘31 the Thomson family bought the property and the first 1k transportation was in a model T Ford roadster with ‘nk. Slides and tapes lold the story about his- toric Grafton. dating back to the early 1800's including its harbour, industries, stage coach route and historic houses.
