She was asked to write histories. special media nserts and opened an Agricultural Fair that was paying whom to the organization. While attending special anniversaries Mrs. Diamond was thrilled with the enthusiasm for the future. She ttcnded Committee meetings. Seminars, Rallies, the international Plowing Match. Royal Winter Fair, Officâ€" m‘ Conference. representing FWIO. It was her pleas- .rt- to present the 15 Macdonald Awards and the Helen l McKercher Scholarship. ,r\fter attending the 4-H girls Conference banquet and .tLllIlng with the girls. she expressed appreciation at the .nquet to the leaders and assistants for the promotion 4-H and leadership courses. At the Junior W.l. Convention she conducted the :ction of Officers. SPECIAL DAY In honor of “The Year of the W.I." in Ontario. the i L'lph Horticulture Society and the Ontario Horticul- ‘ re Association District 7 entitled their show “Flowers i‘ lilfi Women‘s Institute." There was a mini f10wer show and a tour of the l mversity of Guelph campus Mrs. Owen Hawkins. “Presented FWIO at the special Horticulture Day at We Arboretum. She noted, on the tour, she saw the \llelaide Hoodless Rose in bloom. HOME ECONOMICS DIRECTOR Miss Molly McGhee. Director. outlined the impor- tance of being a good facilitator in two way communica- tions. always mindful that one must interpret the wishes of the entire group. Success comes from good planning. The 1981 Board of Directors face more challenges and problems than ever before. simply because of the fast Changing times and expectations from our varied life- styles. The track record of the W.l. is a good one. however. there are many things to considerâ€"how to maintain membershipâ€"how will energy conservation affect the organizationiwhat about inflation? We must look at the future needs. no one can work with outdated tools. The 1981 Provincial Board must provide opportunities and open doors to achieve great things. Enrolment in both Junior and Senior courses in general were up. a special thanks to the W.I, for providing leaders. The Home Economics Branch realize without this help “we couldn‘t do it." DECISIONS FOR 1981 - i ' â€" A decision by FWIO Board Directors was madeon place a $1.00 assessment on the Fee SheetiT'Iiisi's‘wa voluntary contribution requested by FWIC Steering Committee to assist with the first phase of financing the ACWW to be held in British Columbia 'in 1983. â€" FWIC have asked all WI members in every province. to donate $1.00 per member toward the Adelaide Hoodless Foundation Fund. FWIO Board Directors‘ honored the request and encourage each member to pay $1.00 in 1981. Mail contributions into the FWIO office marked Adelaide Headless Foundation Fund. â€" FWIO Board Directors sustained a motion to raise FWIO Fees to $3.00 per member, effective April t981. Included in this amount is the increaSed fegto $1.00 for FWIC. - A‘ ’ 85th ANNIVERSARY AUGUST 1982 Plans for an anniversary celebration. since the first branch was organized in 1897, are underway. Plans will be released at a later date, The Committee to work on this event will be Mrs. Keith Hiepleh, Mrs. H. Maluske, Mrs. J. VanSickle. Mrs. C. Ritchie. and Mrs. C. Diamond with power to cowopt. ACWW CONSTITUTION The FWIO Board appointed a committee to review the ACWW Constitution. Findings will be passed on to the ACWW Constitution Committee. ____â€"â€"â€"â€"â€" COUNTRYWOMAN As of April 1981, instead of having both Contributing Members and Countrywoman subscribers. there will be only one category.
