fl SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING OF THE FEDERATED WOMEN’S INSTITUTES OF ONTARIO Mrs. John Brown, PRO Mrs. Keith Hiepleh welcomed all Board Directors and Executive to the semi-annual Board meeting, held at the Bond Hotel, Toronto, the week of April 26th. Subdivision 11 was represented by Mrs. Ed Osborne, alternate to Mrs. Norman Coghlin. PRESIDENT’S REPORT Mrs. Hieplch along With the Secretary and Treasurer are responsible for the administration of FWIO office. The President has chaired all the FWIO special meetings, as well as both FWIO Board Meetings, She has attended many spe- ctal Branch and District events throughout the Province and been responsible for channeling information from FWIC to the proper sources. This summer Mrs. Hieplch will attend the ACWW Council meeting in England as FWlO's represenv tativc. These are busy times. and hopefully productive for FWIO. SECRETARY'S REPORT Mrs, Van Sickle has attended to all the correspondence concerning the office of Secretary of FWlO. Final arrange- ments are presently being made for the 85th Anniversary, Arrangements for the semi-annual meeting and for thejudgc for the Essay and Poetry Competition for FWIC were her responsibility. TREASURER'S REPORT Mrs. Clifford Ritchie reported on the meetings she at- tended in connection with her office. The matured invest» merits were reinvested and Scholarship cheques will be mailed, An interim financial statement was presented to the Board, Mrs. Ritchie and office secretary Mary Campbell worked on final bustncss regarding applications for the Na» tional Convention. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Mrs. Ritchie reported 25 District. Area Scholarships were ratified by the Committee. Recommendations were accepted to continue to allow the University of Guelph to administer the Macdonald Awards. OFFICERS' CONFERENCE REPORT Mrs. Elmer Dui’ticld presented her first report to the Board stating the McKcown Bus Co. from eastern Ontario WIII provide three buses and pick up the 149 suggested dele- gates along the way. The 500 bus will have approximately 17 persons. This service is a genuine help to the Conference. The remainder of the delegates travel together by car or take public transportation. Shuttle bus service is available at the University for all sessions to be held at Humanities. All discussion group leaders and staff have been selected and the University of Waterloo are ready for the 550 dele- gates arriving May 4 and staying through until May 6.
