Published by the Ontario Ministry of wfitfl. Agriculture arid Food and Food Rural Organizations ONTARIO and Services Branch maxim. in the interests of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario EDITOR Carol Stewart-Kirkby EDITORIAL COMMITTEE Janet Hiepleh Joyce Canning Vol. 50 Summer 1983 The Hazel Stiles Award was presented to Margrit Schaum of Emo, Ontario this year. Pictured here, Margrit demonstrates her rug hooking skills. She applied for the $500 award to help finance a weekâ€"long rug hooking course, presented by the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild, at Trent University this summer. Margrit moved three years ago from Ilderton Branch, London to Aylsworth Branch, where she has taught hooking to WI members and other members of the community. She feels it is important to keep learning about her craft, so she can offer upâ€"toâ€"date information to her students. Margrit has enjoyed macrame, tole painting and many other crafts, but says she‘s “hooked on hooking." Rural Organizations 8: Services.
