fl WI today: Women Involved! fl W What successes have you had in your life, in your career, or in com- munity action this year? Have you accomplished something that has given you a feeling of deep satisfaci tion. and pride in yourself? This summer my youngest son was employed as a life guard at our local beach. He studied theory and built up his strength swimming in preparation for the examination for his Bronze Cross Medallion When the exam was over, I asked him how he had done. He very off- handedly said yes, he had passed # no big deal. How typical he was! As I told him, we study, we sweat and worry to achieve a goal, and when we do, we find we are just the same person. What we have gained is a measure of being more responsi‘ ble to ourselves, to others and to our community. Miracle ofmiracles f I passed. The success and achievement I felt was not that I had obtained a univerâ€" sity credit, but that I was still capable of learning and of achieving, Time had not completely dulled the keen edges of learning skills. What do we need to stimulate a desire to better ourselves? Can you take time to sit down and think about something you would really like to do to build your ego â€" and that will make you a little prouder of yourself? Do you want to learn a skill to help others in your group or in your com- munity? Sometimes we need moral support, to take a friend and work along with her. Sometimes we can go it alone.
