SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO WSA The group's annual seminar was focus- scd on “New Frontiers for Farm Women ‘88". A panel discussion drew comments front George Taylor, Presiâ€" dent ot'J'ohn Labati Co., Renie Long, Past President of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Assoc, Norma Car» rier, Food Committee, Consumers Assoc. of Ontario, and David M. Williams, of Loblaw Companies Ltd. Each member looked at “The Market Place: Where we are. where we‘d like to be and who will be there in 1990â€. Topics included: the effects of free trade, changes in consumer needs and demands. the need for specialty products from both primary producers and proâ€" cessors, the quality ofmilk produced in OnIflI’lU, the history of labelling products and the need for better labelling, and European and US. subsidies. MONKTON WI The branch spon- sored a day long seminar on Healthy Aging, led by Betty Osborn. St. John Ambulance and Helen Young. Discusâ€" sions included information on the proâ€" cess of aging. appropriate exercise, health services for the elderly and nutri- tion and medication. BRUCE EAST DISTRICT W] In response to the Waste Management issue, the district discussed making a bag, decorated with the WI crest, for lugging a mug to meetings, etc. From that. the project grew to include other Lugâ€"a»Line articles for carrying plates, cutlery, stationery. notes, craft projects and even purchases. Other items such as an apron, hand towel and casserole carrier were designed to do a speciï¬c job. The articles have all been created and sewn by District members in the FWlO colours and with the crest, in an effort to make the public aware that W1 is alive and concerned.
