Wellington South District WI At the invitation of the Wellington Federation of Agriculture. this District participated in the 1991 Mall Show at the Eaton Centre in Guelph. A display highlighting many of the WI accom- plishments throughout the years was organized. And volunteers from the District’s Branches were on hand to answer questions. Arkell WI This Branch organized an Apprecia- tion Night to honour members of the community who have given several hours of their time to help make Arkell ‘ and Puslinch Township a better place to live. Some of the individuals recog- nized include: Recreation and Sports Committee members; the Farnham Cemetery Board; 4-H Leaders; firefighters: School Board repre~ sentatives; and. Area Captains canvass- ing for the Red Cross and Cancer Society. A buffet dinner. music. conâ€" tests and a skit were all part of this special event. Lanark North District WI Several Branches from the Lanark North District were pleased to be a pan ola variety show to mark international Women's Day last spring. The show was held at the Carleton Place Com- munity Centre. The winner of the FWIO Tweedsmuir Local History Competition - Ramsay W1 â€" proudly exhibited their history kit of Bennie's Corners at this event. The work of Marilyn Snedden. Curator for the Dis- trict. has won the FWlC competition. Lambton South District WI This District celebrated June as WI month by gathering all the Branches in Lambton County together for a picnic. G‘He MacKenzie from the Healthy Lifestyles Division of the Lambton Health Unit spoke to the group. Grey - South District W] The _Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority supplied over 3.000 stce' white pine and cedar seedlings to eleven Branches in this District, The Authority said they were pleased to be part. of the tree planting program or- ganized by the WI. Some of the trees were planted at member‘s homes. around WI Halls. and 350 were to go in Neustadt Park. “ Brant North District WI Earlier this year. Brunch members attended a fashion show presented by the Brant North District. Both after» noon and evening shows were well at» tended by W! members. who enjotetl coffee and dessert before the fashions. Pittsburgh W1 A red maple tree was planted at the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum in Pittsburgh Township by members of this Branch. In attendance was Put Bur- nes. PRO, Pittsburgh WlJcan McLean.
