Resolutions Approved at 1991 Annual Meeting The following resolutions were ap- proved by the Executive and Board Directors of the Federated Women‘s ln- stitutes ofOntario at their annual meeting last November, They include: 1. requesting the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Women‘s issues, and the College of Psychology and Psychiatry to enact legislation that requires anyone practising psychotherapy be licensed by an ac- credited professional association, and that licenses be granted only after apâ€" propriate training and examination; petitioning the Minister of Transporâ€" tation and the Solicitor General of Ontario to levy fines against the misuse of the slow moving vehicle signs; asking both the Federal and Provin- cial Government‘s to require that the "Best Before Date“ on all food products be in larger print and in a more prominent place; urging the Ontario Medical Associa» tion, the Ontario Hospital Associa- tion, and the Ministry of Health to promote the development of com- munity-wide, hospital-based, breast feeding committees that will educate and encourage pregnant women to breast feed their babies; recommending that the Ontario Hospital Association urge hospitals to only use formula from those com- panies that adhere most closely to the World Health Organization‘s interna- tional code of marketing breast milk substitutes (Geneva, 1981); persuading the Government of Canada to take action to have the Ar- chives of Canada remain in Ottawa; pressuring the Ministry of the En- vironment to enact legislation making all wine and liquor bottles subject to a refundable deposit at the time of sale; requesting that the CRTC restore the CBC Channel 9 programming to the Essex, Kent and Lambtm County areas in order that they are provided with the necessary coverage of Canadian content; requesting also that the CRTC and the CBC restore the local news program- ming to the Essex, Kent and Lambton County areas by reopening CBE'I‘ Windsor; 10. appealingto the Ministry of Health to regulate the dispensing fee in pharâ€" macies across Ontario, and to make it reasonable and affordable to everyone; 11. urging the Minister of Justice to change the Young Offenders Law to have all crimes committed by 14 to 17 yearold offenderstriedinadultcourts with appropriate deterrents; 12. asking the Ministry ofTransportation to enact legislation requiring that uniform Overhead lane directional ar- 13. 14. rows be installed; appealing to Revenue Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, and the Ontario Min- istry of Revenue to recognize short- term child care costs as employment expenses for those stay-at-home parents who assist in operating a family farm; appealing also to Revenue Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, and the Ontario Ministry of Revenue to recognize the work done by stay-at-home parents and consequently to allow a tax credit for the income earning parent. 1992 FWIO Board Directors Pictured above are the Second Year F W10 Board Directors.
