What’s Happening. . . Spring Bay W] This Branch organized a fashion show skit for the Manitoulin West District An- nual held in Spring Bay last fall. One member donated a quilt that she made to help raise funds. And in December the Branch held their Christmas meeting at Manitoulin Lodge in Gore Bay. Residents of this home for seniors enjoyed a gift exchange and noon luncheon with the Spring Bay WI members. Grandview WI Late last fall the Grandview WI dedicated a Nomay Maple tree to the Lennox and Addington County Hospital in apprecia- tion for their 25 years of service to the community. In the fall of 1950, J.M. Macintosh, Agricultural Representative for the District of Algoma, asked the Queen Elizabeth Women ’s Institute to prepare two meals a day for five days for the workers at the Thessalon stock yards. Forty-one years later they are still taking up the challenge, serving about 200 people on the final day. The event helps support many WI and community projects. While the stock yards have witnessed many changes over the years, the camaraderie and pulling together of WI members has remained the same.
