We have just completed Phase Two of the ROSE ‘ Buddies grant, Train~the»Trainer. Training locations : were selected based on Member interest â€" we picked three locations across the province where we had the most WI Members who volunteered and wanted to participate ~ Kingston, Owen Sound and York District. 1 17 W] Members participated in the intense 2-day ' training to start their certiï¬cation process. They received their resource binder and tools and then rolevplayed a variety of scenarios and stages of the program It was a lot of information to cover in just a short period of time. but these dedicated ladies rose to the occasion and are well on their way to becoming certiï¬ed ROSE Buddies Memoir Writing Facilitators. The next phase is Delivery which means these ladies will put their training to the test as they deliver the program in their own community. Our ROSE Buddies trainers will be busy creating a partnership with a school, recruiting senior participants and then facilitating the group over several weeks. It will be a lot of work but all the effort and hard work will be worth it when they see the genuine relationships develop between the students and seniors. We are excited to see what happens as this program gets rolled out in these communities, We will keep you posted â€" watch the website and stay tuned to the newsletter for good news, success stories and photos of ROSE Buddies! We hope that the MemoireWriting will be the ï¬rst of many Intergenerational programs that WI Branches will offer across the province. Ifyou have an idea for a project that will bring WI Members, Seniors and Youth together, please let ROSE Program Manager, Patty Pizziola know. Patty's contact information is at the front of the newsletter. WI Members get trained from L-R is Gretha Holmes.
