Spring is imminent in the Hills of Northumberland. The daffodils are blooming and the frogs are croaking as | write this report. At our Annual meeting, held in Barrie in January, Dr. Murray McQuigge brought us an updated and inspirational message concerning raw milk and issues that we are facing in our communities, provinces and country. It seems that the laws concerning raw milk -- the very laws Adelaide Hoodless fought for -- are now in question by certain parties in our communities. As Wl Members, we should all continue to keep abreast of what is taking place concerning these issues. I encourage each of you to ensure that Addie’s work wasn’t done in vain - please take some time to bring this issue front and centre in your Branches. lnformation is available from many different sources including the Dairy Farmers of Ontario, the Internet, Public Health Units, ’ as well as the government. Take time to find out about the diseases that raw milk consumption cause. As a former dairy farmer, l was shocked to learn what a roulette wheel I, and my family, could have been on. National Volunteer Week is celebrated in April each year and pays special tribute to Canadian volunteers across the country who give of themselves to better their communities and the lives of others.
