Silverwood WI, Wellington-Halton District Recently Silverwood WI welcomed three new members to their Branch, Cecilia Thorpe, Stephanie Janiec and Heather McKinnon. At sixteen years old, Stephanie and Heather are Silverwood Wl’s youngest Members. The montth meetings are held in rotation at Members’ homes and Stephanie's interest in WI was piqued when she observed a meeting hosted in her own home by her mother. Heather is a fourth generation WI Member who attended her first WI Meeting at the age of two and a half. More recently it was the painting workshop and craft activities that convinced Heather WI has much to offer. Silverwood Wl spans all ages and backgrounds. Some members have deep roots in the community like President Beryl Beeney, whereas other members are newcomers not only to this area but also to Canada. Newington Cedar Brae WI, Stormont District The Newington Cedar Brae Wl recently met to fondly remember their activities of the past year and to plan the program for the coming year. When the hostess Don Loewan suggested Members come in their pyjama’s, some wondered if she meant it! Bowen Road WI, Niagara District Bowen Road WI were busy celebrating WI Week in February! Members set up two displays at the library in Fort Erie for approximately 3 weeks. The theme of the first display was "Surviving the WI in the Next Century”. The second display showcased how local clubs sponsor projects such as Scholarships for two local high schools and the 4-H Club. There was a good response from the public who viewed the display. Bowen Road WI Members held the annual Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, February 20th at the Town Hall in Fort Erie for WI Week. Doreyne Lew.
