The recently amalgamated Huronâ€"Perth WI was invited to participate in this year‘s International Plowing Match that was held near Llstowel. The WI display featured a 10’ x 14 ’ replica of The Erland Lee (Museum) Home that was auctioned off raising more than $4,000. A non-WI member and chair of the Family Lifestyles Area, Ruth Long, originated the idea of the replica house as a tribute to the work of Women's Institute. The Distinctively Tea Shop in .I Stratford created a special blend tea especially for the 2005 IPM that was sold in the replica house. WI Volunteers were key to the success of the event. Beautifully wrapped baskets prepared by members were used as door prizes throughout the day and winners were delighted with the contents.
