Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario Board Briefings November 24-27, 2003 The November meeting of the Provincial Board was held at the Marden Community Centre. To help reduce Board costs. the Editor of Home & Country Janine Floelens-Grant no longer attends Board meetings. The Board Brieiings are now compiled by the Board. Only a partial and bulleted version at these Briefings will be outlined below: - Horne and Country Newsletter - Due to budget cuts. the number of issues has been reduced from four to three per year. They will arrive at the Branches in or around February 1. June 1 and October 1. ‘ HOSE Program - Any member who wishes their name and email address added to the ROSE Update List. please contactJulie Annett at 519-336-3078. or email juliea@fwio.on.ca This is a great way to receive the latest news and inlormation to share with your Branch Ask your Branch Secretary for the handout entitled the "Most Frequently Asked Questions"about the ROSE Program. - Letter to Members - The Board mailed a letter to each Branch and Provincial Officer outlining the fee increase - a $6.50 increase in 2004 for a total of $35; an increase to $40 + $5 for FWIC in 2005; an increase to $50 + $5 for FWIO in 2006. - Erland Lee (Museum) Home - A heartfelt thank you from the Board and the Erland Lee Committee for all the generous donations to the Restore the Root campaign for the Lee Home. The goal was reached and the contract has been awarded. « Hospitality Homes - On the recommendation of Coordinator Gillian Cat‘lo. the fee for staying at a Hospitality Home has been raised to $15 per person per night, breakiast included. January 12, 2004 The January meeting oi the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario Provincial Board was held at the Kempenieldt Conference Centre in Barrie on January 12. Only a partial listing of the Briefings follow: 1 Voting Delegates to ACWW - Voting delegates to the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) Conference in Hobart, Tasmania, in March 2004 are FWIO President Elsie Stephenson. Christine Fieaburn. Gillian Catto. Pauline Weiland and Joan Playle. - "Focus High for Wl" - FWIO President Elsie Stephenson will present approximately $9.000 to ACWW at their world conference in March; the cheque represents all of the money raised by Ontario members in the past year under the auspices of the "Focus High for WI" project. The next phase of the project begins on March 1 , 2004 and runs until October 31, 2004. Proceeds will go to the Erland Lee (Museum) Home Operating Fund. A quilt, two pillows and a tote are bong created; iiCkets on these items will be sold tor a first. second and "W prize respectively. with the draw taking place at the Provinoal Conference in Oshawa in June. - Penmanship Challenge - The winner of the FWIO President‘s Penman» ship Challenge was Joyce McDonald from the Hothsay Women's Institute. Her entry of the Mary Stewart Collect will hang in the FWIO Provincial Office. Congratulations Joyce!
