Tapping into the Net he Internet has a vast num» ber of images attached to it. For some, it is the tool of modâ€" ern commerce. for some an evil element in the lives of thou- sands of people of all ages. But for the majority. it is an inforv mation source. For the price of an internet connection. you can have months and months of access to information and images from around the world. One of its major advantages is the fact that it is a two-way highway. You cannot only access information, but you can contribute information to the internet. “Tapping into the Net" was the subject of a recent workshop organized by the Guelph Area Women's Institute, with the help of representatives from Blackcreek Tech- nologies in Cambridge and Stratford. The workshop covered such skills as us- ing search engines, how to do favourites. how to file in folders. how to cut and paste, and much, much more! At the end of the day, the 30 participants said they gained new skills and the ability to use their com- puters with more confidence. What a great workshop idea for your Branch, District or Area. And open it up to community participation. Get busy and tap into the net today! Submitted by Ruth Jones.
