Watch for more details in the March Board Briefings. -* W» l6 Hamel Country, Spring 2001 Tweedsmuirs Nominated for Award Canada‘s National History Society established an award in 1994 for distinguished achieve- ment in popularizing Canadian history. Canadian writer and popular author Pierre Berton was the first recipient and agreed to have his name associated with the award, individuals or organizations that have helped popularize Canadian history, through such means as publications, film, radio and televi- sion, theatre or volunteer service may be nominated. Upon the suggestion of a member, Board agreed that it would be appropriate to nominate the work of Women‘s Institute mem- bers in preserving local history in the form of Tweedsmuir History Books. Has your Branch, District or Area Tweedsmuir Curator been recognized by their community, historical or genealogical society, museum or library (etc) for their work on preserving local histories? National - FWIO Exeruirve Officer to FWIC As reported by the FWIO Executive Officer to FWIC at the FWIO Annual Meeting in January, FWIC wishes to survey the Branches about their understanding of the role of the national or- ganization. To this end, all Provincial Advrsory Councillors (PACs) are requested to ask three questions at the Spring District Annuals: 1. How relevant is FWIC to members? 2. How relevant is FWIC lo Branches’i 3. What can FWIC do Ior you? PAC will record the feedback, which is to be forwarded to the FWIO Provincial Office, not the FWIC Office as suggested in the January Board Briefings.
