Health Program Coordinator Kelly Marshall reviewed the Health Program with Annual Meeting dele- gates. She made clear a numberof aspects about the Program, including its goal. the partnership process. the roles and respon- sibilities of partners. current banners. the role of the Health Coordinator. and the roles and participation of Branches (see the Health Program update on page 13). Fundraiser FWIO Fundraiser Mike Paquet addressed members at the Annual Meeting; he began with the preliminary intiatives already in place. Based on discussions with Board. Paquet outlined the organization's primary funding requirements: the ACWW 2001 Conlerence; the Erland Lee (Museum) Home and educational programs. Paquet sees the ACWW 2001 Conference as an “overwhelming opportunity." in his elicits to seek sponsorship and iunding. Paguet “rel- ishes establishing relationships with a global audience at the corporate level.” Communications Workshops A series of Communications Workshops were organized for day two of the Annual Meeting to clarity the roles and responsibili- ties ol the Provrncial Advrsory Council (PAC). the live Coordinators and the Pro vinciat Board of Directors The workshops provided a great opportunity to offer con- stnictive solutions in areas of concern. FWlO President Christine Reaburn and Past President Arthena Hecker facilitated discussions for the Provrncrat Advisory Councillors (PAC) Eastern Regional Board Director Rosemary Moran facilitated the workshop for Coordinators. it was organ ized with assistance from Provrncial Board members Marg Harris. Vera Miner. Billie Power and Margaret Wilton. Jim Brown of Strivel. a pr'wate company devoted to help» ing maximize the effectiveness of people and organizations through leadership de- velopment. spoke to the Board of Directors, Positive discussions ensued among all groups on a number of points. but With a locus on improved communications, At the PAC Workshop suggestions on how to best communicate within their Subdivismn were discussed. They noted that time should be set aside at the next annual meeting to get together as PAC and to meet with Board Directors. Discussion also focused on the clarification of report forms. volunteer hours. FWIO‘s charitable status and nomi- nations and elections. Coordinators wished time together as a group to formulate a cohesive strategy for their work within the organizitjon, They too wished time together as a group. as well as time to meet With the Provincial Board and with their respective committees. Recom» mendations from this workshop Will be forthcoming at Board As in past years. the primary focus of Strive‘s workshop for the Provincial Board of Directors was to highlight the essentials ol the law for an incorporated non-profit organization. Strive concluded by reinforc- ing the two key functions of Board Directors are to 'direcl’ and to “protect.” Directors noted that they were pleased with the reduced size of the Board and the fact that they could easily communicate with one another via tax. The interaction among Board Directors was constructive as they discussed and offered concrete solutions to help resolve areas of concern. OATI Workshop Everyone participated in an alternoon work- shop entittad “Communication and Team Building Development.” Hands Yacoub. from the Ontario Agriculture Training Insti- tute (OATli. lacrlitated the workshop.
