T‘he Burford Women’s Institute celebrated their 100 birthday in June by hosting an Open House at the Burford Agricultural Hall, The Branch was formed on January 11, 1899, at the home of Mrs. LE. Brethour, Tweedsmuir History Books and displays of quilts and other artifacts decorated the Hall. Congratulatory letters from several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Jean Chretien, were also on display. FWIO President Arthena Hecker presented a specral certiï¬cate to the Branch in honour of their 100 years of dedication to the Women‘s Institute. Accolades were also presented by Bob Speller « MP for Brant-Haldimandâ€"Norfolk, Ron Eddy - Mayor of Brant .Zounty, and local Councillors. Guests included many local Branch, District and Area WI representatives. Recent Branch activities have included assisting with 4-H Clubs, organizing Well Baby Clinics, awarding local scholarhips and sup- porting several local organizations and charities.
