LAURA ROSE Laura Rose. of Ottawa. was the first Government lecturer in 1899. also organizer for Women's Institutez. appointed by the Ontario Department of Agriculture. ;he rendered great service in building the organization in its early days. Laura Rose was a teacher and thoroughly enjcye: 'iZKEe‘ life. living in North Dakota with her brother for a i1336f of years: beside teaching school she attended he: ::-se::;: duties. cooking for hired men. making butter an: caring f:r chickens. etc. Later returning to Ontario she travelled aLL ever the Province organizing and addressing Women's Institutes: being a fluent. instructive, and entertaining s:eaner a2: possessing an allable and charming personality sne endeare: herself to Women's Institute members and was always assure: of a warm welcome. She organized Institutes in British Colombia. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and addressed meetings in Prince Edward and Quebec. As a writer she excelled and she has written many articles for leading journals in Canada aif the United States. Her great literary achievement was is: 300 page book entitled ’Parn Dairying" published in LC;;. It served as a text and reference book in many Agricultur-L schools and colleges.
