LORD THE: ZS‘TL‘IR John Buchan was born in Scotland in 1875 and was educated at the Unive:sities of Glasgow and Oxford. He was a novelist, historian and statesman, and the first Commoner ever appointed Governor-General of Canada. He entered Parliament in 1927 as representative of the Scottish Universities, holding that position until 1935, when he was appointed to the Canadian Post, and was created the let Baron of Tweedsmuir, by King George V. LADY TTEEDS'UIR Lady Twecdsmuir, who was Susan Charlotte Grosvenor, prior to her marriage, was a grandâ€"daughter of Lord Ebury. While serving with her husband in Canada, she took a special interest in the provision of libraries of our rural areas, and also encouraged Womens Institutes to com- pile and publish their local histories. Lady Tweedsmuir wrote several novels.
