LORD AND LADY TWEEDSMUIR John Buchan, the son of Rev. John Buchan, was born in Scotland, August 25th, 1875. He was called to the Bar in 1901. From 1927 to' 1935 he was a member of British House of Commons for Scottish Universities. In 1935 he became Governorâ€"General of Canada, which office he held for five years. John Buchan was also a historian and novelist, some of his historical works being: Sir Walter Raleigh, Julius Caesar, Oliver Cromwell, and some of his novels were: The 39 Steps, Salute to Adventures, The Three Hostages. John Buchan, the first Lord Tweedsmuir, died in Montreal February 11th, 1940. His library was bequeathed to Queen's University at Kingston, Ontario.
