Beauty at Our Door Where in Bruce County, much of which has been lavishly enâ€" dowed with natural beauty, can one fine veiws such asdéanjbe seen in Elderslie township? True this townshir is inland, not enjoying the beaches such as are along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay; but that does not mean that it lacks the attraction that the presence of water affords. Through it flow the North Saugeen River and the Snake Creek, each havâ€" ing its own beauty snots. While the North Saugeen is, in most places, a fast moving stream the Snake Creek is a slow meandâ€" erer. It provides water for large herds of zattix beef cattle. Many were the happy hours snent by farm children of more than one generation in its swimming holes. The North Saugeen enters Elderslie at Scone where Pioneers built a dam, no longer in use as a source of water rower for the old mill but still providing a rushing waterfall-fit subâ€" ject for an artist. The stretch above the dam is a favorite place foe canoeists and fishermen. Beside the river in the town Chesley a pleasent park has been made with swimming and wading pools. Within sight of the business street there is a waterâ€" fall over a dam and in a nlace where early settlers built a woollen mill which was burnt to the ground is Riverside park. Farther downstream is a frequently rhotograrhed Fourâ€"storied old grist mill. A mile west of Chesleyy in concession 2 of Elderslie an "3" Curve in the river nrovides a Picturesque View. The locatâ€" ion, OFEHing Off sideroad 25, has been chosen by a castle who looked for a blaCe beside a clear river on which to retire.
