Glasgow Women's Institute - Book 2 LOT 20, CON. 7 According to census taken ]$51â€"52, this farm was under the name of Walter Hutson, who lived here until he moved to Matawatchan. Peter Anderson bought 100 acres for $80 on September, I860, receiving deed for same dated December 18th, I860. He later became owner of Lot 20, con. 6, E 1/2. (Mr. Anderson originally came from Scotland). A house was built on this lot on concession 6. James Murphy lived in it for some time, then moved to Admaston Township. Several occupants lived in this house in the years following. Thomas O‘Grady, George Kidder, Thomas Hyland, and Miss Ellen Hutson. Peter Anderson married Elizabeth Duff of White Lake, and they had a family of nine, 8 who grew to a mature age. He was appointed treasurer of McNab Township in 1879* which office he held until 1908. His son James took over, according to records in Janu- ary 1909, and continued till April 1942, and was followed by his son, Stuart, who holds the offices of both Treasurer and Clerk. This is three generations serving in the same official capacity, living on the same farm, which is a Centennial farm.
