Ooiiuories Glas Olive Louise Sommerville Olive Louise Somerville passed away on October 19 at her residence in MeNab Township in her 84th year. She was predeceased by her hus- band James Arnold Some- rville, and by a sister, Irene Phillips of Arnprior and a brother Reid Carswell of Glas- gow Station. Mrs. Somerville wasborn at Glasgow on June 16, 1911, the daughter of Andrew Carswell and Christina Murphy. She lived all her life in MeNab Township where she was a very active member of the com- munity. Because of her keen interest in history, she spent countless hours as a volunteer at the McNah Museum in Waba, and, for many years, maintained detailed historical records in the Needsmuir History Book of the Glasgow Women's Institute. Her Scottish and Irish an- cestry were sources of great pride' and she carried out con- siderable research on her ’ family tree, as well as assisting others who were seeking infor- mation about their family his- tories. Mrs. Somerville is survived by sisters-in-law Ellen Bahm and Muriel Somerville of Arnprior, and by several nieces and nephews who will all miss her very much. She will also be fondly remembered by many of the young people who often spent evenings with "Aunt Olive" learning how to play Chinese Checkers. or Scrabble or a variety of card games, and by her many friends and neighbours who received gifts from her beauti- ful gardens The funeral service for gow Women's Institute Book 4 Olive Somerville was held at Boyce Funeral Home in Amprior on Friday. October 21, with Rev. Donald Wauchensehwantl officiating. Blain Carswell, a nephew of the deceased, spoke of her strength and independence. Pallbearers were Trevor Mc- SOMERVILLE - The family of the late Olive Somerville wish to thank the many friends. relatives and neighbours who sent flowers or made donatiom in Olive‘s menmry. Thank you also to Rev. Donald Wauchenachwantz, the pallbearers, the women of Grace United Church who provided lunch after the service. the staff at AAD Memorial Hospital. the Amprior Home Support staff. VON South Renfrew Branch. and the many friends and neighbour! who visited Olive in hospital and at her home. A special thanks also to Marilyn Misener who played "Amazing Grace' on the bagpipes at the cemetery. and ID Anne Carmichael who. besides being a wonderful friend. helped out in many ways during ()live's illness Cuaig, Scott Logan.
