All proved to be i very interesting and bean- Liful. l There was also a work- shop on Applique and teachers Doris Bushell and ‘ Simone Lynch demon- ng two different lech- l rnques. Members chose to ‘ either learn the Celtic Applique using bias strips of fabric, or a different way using apattcrn cut‘ out like a paper snowflake, and two fabrics Jomcd together. The top layer is carefully cut out and appliqucd onto the bottom layer. Maureen Trcsnalt from "Project Smile" has kept in touch with the Guild and sent rl couple of phor ms of children who have received their quills through our efforts in January. Darlene Schicstcl and Carol Mitchell took on [he challenge and creat- ed a beautiful quilt which was entered. The Guild received a letter of con gratulations for honorable mention and a cheque for $50. Great work ladies. Southampton Museum wrote the Five Star Quilters and thanked them for participating in the Wallhrlnging Show at the 1997 museum along with :i 550 cheque. Congratulations to Carol Mitchell who won third prize for artistic impression and Doris Bushell who won an hon- orable mention.
