Malcolm a small but flourishing centre lies 2 miles west of Elmwood- (reported about 70 years ago). it is situated on the corner of Con. 10 a: 25th siderued in the township of Brent. The village consith of a school. two hotels, dance hall, general store, post office, Presbyterian church, wagon shop, blacksmith ship and brickyard. CHEESE in the early eighteen fifties, pioneers of the growing hamlet erected a Presbyterian church - a small log building which was on the lot where the school now stands. in 1872 plans for a new brick church to replace the old log building were begun. Contract read â€" as below: material $1035. Signed by D. Landnrkinr. Duncan Campbell a W Smell. This was dated Dec. 21, 1872. it was built on the south west corner. Ln 1873 the new church opened, free of debt. rhis new church and cemetery were close to the road with the sheds on the south side of the lot. Reverend Daniel Duff preached thirtyâ€"one years (1868â€"l899) in the Eresbyterian church. as lived in the manse north of the church, across the corner, and was buried in the Malcolm cemetery. his tow daughters raised in the muse a few rodaenorth of the corner are still living in Toronto - over 70 years of age; in fair health and 01' clear mind One son is in a nursing home in Winnipeg. After hev. Duff‘s death, Malcolm joined with Crawford and West Bentlnck. In the fall of 1920 they Joined the h’lmwood Methodist church. ‘L'he church building was sold in the early forties to become part _of the Uhesley Riblic School, but the cemetery is still kept up. A few years ago Mrs McArthur {the former Barbara Lamont) a daugher of Mr. 5: Mrs. George Lamont returned to Canada after having lived in Scotland for many years. Aura.
