Lord heedemuir was born in a‘cotland, August 25, 1875. John, the son of Rev. John Buchan. He was noted Historian end Novelist and was called to the Bar in 1901. From 1927-1935 he was a member of the British House of Commons far scotticn Universities. In 1935 he was titled "Baron fieedemuir". He became viovernor- General or Canada in 1935 and held this office until 1940. He was a noted Author and a number of his biographies were Sir Walter Raleigh, Juluie Ceeeeer, The Massacre of Glencoe, The Kings' Grace, etc. Some of his novels were "The 39 steps, Salute to Adventures, The Three Hoetegee, etc. "Memory Hold the Door" was his autobiography and one of his latest works. Lord Tweedsnuir died in Montreal on Fehruery 11th, 1940. His library was bequeathed to Queen‘s University at Kingezon . Ontario. Lady Tweedemuir - Susan. wire of our beloved Governorâ€" Ceneral, was 5150 a noted novelist. She has written many plays, children‘s books and reminiscences. She was an ardent W. L Member in Englanl, and was made an Honerery Life Member or F 2’1 I 0. She advocated that our organizations across Canada compile the histories of our local Cormmities and Villages. She returned to England following the death of her husband and is still residing there (1962)
